Basking in a warm sanctuary like a sunroom is so much more enjoyable if it isn’t full of out-of-place furniture or clutter. Often, a small sunroom can easily get overloaded with unnecessary stuff and, before you know it, it’s full of space-guzzling furnishings and cheesy knick-knacks.

If you want your small sunroom to be a charming haven, here are some decoration tips:

• If a large couch is taking up space, replace it with a vintage table and small wicker chairs. Rattan furniture also works well because it blends in nicely with exposed wood beams. This is not to say that you shouldn’t have any large pieces of furniture in your sunroom – it’s perfectly fine to have a comfy chair or sofa, as long as you contrast it with fewer accessories and smaller pieces.
• A nice rug on top of hardwood flooring can make a sunroom look very stylish. Or, if you prefer, make tiles your flooring choice. Add some small reading lamps and a couple of plants, and there you have it – a very cozy space!
• A large tropical plant can make a great room divider and create an optical illusion of more space in the sunroom. You can also use paint to open up a small room, but be sure to choose light colors to add to the feeling of spaciousness. Light tans and browns are peaceful, while greens and blues are more intense.
